Earwax Candles

Today my Husband and I used those candles that retrieve your inner ear wax ew! I was pretty hesitant on using it but after watching numerous You Tube videos on how it's done, I decided i will give it a try.

I wanted to share my experiance with ya'll lol.

My Husband hiding his face lol

Sorry about my goofy face, I was so scarred lol!

Cayden was our little spectator

So what I didn't share was the inner ear wax part, pretty nasty looking! Even if you clean your ears daily it's amazing how nasty the results are.

I am not sure if it's a mental thing or what, but you can tell a differance in hearing after your done!
I hear that this is actually a healthier way of cleaning your ear then the q-tip way.

Finding our way to Potty Training Success

Tis the time to start Potty Training in the Yarnell Household. With Carson Being 27 months old, he is starting to show interest in the Potty.

Potty Training should be fun and Successful for a child and that is what I am trying to do for My little guy.

This is my Big Boy, giving the stand up method a try!
Sit down Method

To help his excitement for this new step in his life I went out and bought these two things for him.

Carson loves Elmo!! The DVD really caught Carson's attention and as for the book, we bring that into the Bathroom with him while he is on the potty!

Another thing I came up with, was our own chart!
Here is what I came up with. On the left side, all his "pees" will be counted and the right, his "poos." Each parent can have their rewards. I chose to give Carson a Candy after 10 pees (a BIG candy) and for Poo's after 10 a toy (a simple Dollar Store would be good!) Each time he goes pee/poo I do reward him little treats. For our Potty Training chart I laminated it for multiple uses when used with a dry erase marker.

Since it's summer, to let Carson be aware of it being "time to pee" I will occasionally let him run around outside without a diaper. Letting him know, when it's time to go pee run up to a bush and pee on it... He loves this idea and gets a big kick out of it.

Some other ideas I heard and are trying some as well are to help with Potty Training Success are.

-Buy some inexpensive toys, wrap them up and allow them to choose one after their accomplishment of successfully using the potty.

-Another is, remain positive. If your little one has an accident, don't discipline him/her for it.

-Put Cheerios in the toilet as an aiming device.

-Make up exciting songs about Potty Training.

-Use a sticker chart.

-Start a tradition, after every successful run follow up with an activity. Do this every time your little one uses the potty (like color, or paint, play a special game)

-Pick out fun "Big Boy" under wear with prints that appeal to your toddlers likings.

-Die the Toilet water Blue or Red that way when the pee hits it, it turns the waters color.

-Put the diapers and diapering utensils further than normal and every time you change your little ones diaper, have him/her go grab all the supplies.

Please share your success stories and add some tips if you have them!

Another Remedy For Diaper Rash

Continued on to my previous post about the Diaper Rash Remdy, I have two more that I recommend using.

One is given to us by our Pediatric Nurse and the other one was passed down through a friends Pediatrician.

This Remedy is the one our Pediatric Nurse Gave us, Simply mix equal parts of Corn Startch and Maalox together until a you get a "Diaper Cream" like condensity.

The other one, is one part Eucerin and one part Maalox

These two are good ones as well as the first one I wrote about. If you know your Baby doesn't have a "Yeast Diaper Rash" then I would say to use these to only because the anti fungal cream in the other blog i wrote could hurt their sensitive skin.

Severe Diaper Rash Home Remedy

So my 8 month old has, this crazy diaper rash going on. I have tried EVERYTHING under the sun to help his little tush.

While talking to my Grandma, I had mentioned this issue to her and she gave me a home remedy that has been passed on through the family. (Or maybe at least my Aunts and Uncles)

This is known to work wonders, and out of all the cousins I have (8 total) this has been the best diaper rash solution.

These are the ingredients you need:
Desitin- Original
A+D Ointment
Lotrimin (or a Anti fungal cream)
Maalox or Mylanta (I used Alka-Seltzer because I had this on hand however it took 90 years to crush up the tablets lol but I HIGHLY RECOMMEND not using Alka-Seltzer I had to re do it and use Maalox)

Here is the Maalox, I have yet to find it in the actuall brand but Kroger Brand does have it and it's cheaper I bet!!

Why the ingredients?

Maalox/Mylanta- Reduces the irritation from the acid in the stools.
Lotrimin/Anti Fungal- The bad diaper rashes involve yeast which the anti fungal helps to reduce that.

How to make it.

Mix equal parts of all the ingredients with a cap full of Maalox. This is sort of a trial and error type of thing until you are able to get it to a thick paste.

This is what the final product should look like.

Put the cream into a container that has a lid so you are able to have multiple uses! :]

You are able to use this Remedy as often as your change your little one. Good Luck and I hope this helps Your Little One!

Summers Ear Treatment!

With the pool ready and a new Bathing Suit in hand.. I am sure you can share the excitement that overwhelmed my body!!

Summers here and time to have bonfires, lay out by the pool, have BBQ's and I know on my Summer Bucket List going to Cedar Point is a must!! (After all we only live like 45-1hr away!)

Any ways I am getting out of the purpose of this post.

Both boys took a nap and my Husband and I were able to experience some alone swimming time... Well to my Husband that means "Body Slam" me into the water! :( As soon as this happened instantly I could feel both my ears fill up with water..

Growing up Ear Infections and Swimmers Ear has always been a issue!

I managed to get one ear drained but the other was being stubborn.

Here is the trick I used to get my ear back to normal.

Fill the cap to the Hydrogen Peroxide up and slowly poor in ear (I hate the feeling of this part so my Husband has to hold me down and do it, or else it will never be done... lol it reminds of us trying to give our boys medicine)

Any ways, you want to make sure your laying in a relaxing position because, you'll be here for awhile!

Lay on your side for a good 15-20 mins meanwhile your going to hear popping and sizzling in ear... and maybe a bit of an itch.

Once done, flip your head so the ear filled with the peroxide is facing down now. Either hold a bowl or if you use a towel make sure you give it some space between your ear!

Let it drain for a bit and finish off my taking a towel and wiping your inner ear.

This method can also be used for ear infections and a way to get the inner ear wax out of the ear!

Have fun swimming!

Do you have a Diastasis Recti/Abdominal Split ?

So After some searching I have recently found out I have an abdominal split after having two very large babies!

I am blogging about this because some women don't even realize they have it and without proper exercise these muscles will never "go back." So all these normal crunches and ab exercises I have been doing have actually been making this split worse!!!

This is a very helpful video to see whether or not you have it-

So I will give you a little summery of how to test to see if you have it.
  1. Lie on the floor knees bent with your pelvic floor lifted, then "crunch" your head up half way.
  2. Take three fingers and place them down the center line from your belly button up.
  3. Run your fingers up and down that line and don't be afraid to sort of push down.
  4. If you can fit all three finger within that "line" at any point, you my friend as well as I have an abdominal split. :[ Boo!
So I didn't really explain that into full detail so if you want to test yourself, I really recommend watching the video above.

A good note is that this "split" can be easily closed through proper exercise. Which Youtube as a lot of those.
                Mom's into Fitness YouTube Channel!

After lots of google"ling" I have notice this is a common thing that can occur in both men and women. Both Men and Women through rapid weight gain. Women generally from pregnancy or through the pushing of labor.

My story about going through Postpartum Depression

I hesitated on posting a blog about such a touchy subject but after awhile of thinking about it I thought it would be helpful for other Mom's to know that is more common than what we all think.

A month after having my littlest guy Cayden, I knew there was something wrong with the way I was feeling. There is moderate-severe cases of postpartum depression and mine fell under a moderate category.

I am a 21 (22 this May) year old with two kids. Carson going on 2 in April and Cayden will be 5 months on the 1st of April. My Husband is in the Military and we live clear cross country from family! I think the fact of not having that much family support (as far as not having family here helping out) mixed with the feelings of hating my post-baby body played a big roll with my depression.

I was nervous about seeking help or even mentioning it because I didn't want people to assume that I "hated my kids." Because I love both my boys with all my heart and I would never "hate" them but, this was something I just thought people would think when I mentioned I thought I could have postpartum depression.

After some convincing from my Mom I made the decision to schedule an appointment with my doctor. At my appointment  I had found out that postpartum depression is more common then I thought it was and I felt comforted knowing I wasn't the only Mom going through this.

"There is no such thing as a miracle...

that picture of the back is me four month post second baby :]  I know it's not model perfect but it's so far perfect to me!

Found this quote loved it and had to share with the results of my post baby body (so far). Working out is something very hard to squeeze in with two little guys but I find no excuses, if I want my body back I will make it happen!

I am not at the weight or "figure" I want to be but I am telling you my self image towards myself is starting to become a lot better! Miracles can happen so when you say it's impossible remember... Nothing is Impossible when you put your mind to it!!

Get OFF the scale!!

For those of you who are constantly finding yourself getting on the scale every waken minute you have available (like I am guilty of doing) This is such an inspiring and beautiful quote!

I came across this quote by Steve Maraboli while google searching inspiration quotes about weight loss. Since this picture is sort of hard to read I will recite the quote below.

“Get Off The Scale!
You are beautiful. Your beauty, just like your capacity for life, happiness, and success, is immeasurable. Day after day, countless people across the globe get on a scale in search of validation of beauty and social acceptance.

Get off the scale! I have yet to see a scale that can tell you how enchanting your eyes are. I have yet to see a scale that can show you how wonderful your hair looks when the sun shines its glorious rays on it. I have yet to see a scale that can thank you for your compassion, sense of humor, and contagious smile. Get off the scale because I have yet to see one that can admire you for your perseverance when challenged in life.

It’s true, the scale can only give you a numerical reflection of your relationship with gravity. That’s it. It cannot measure beauty, talent, purpose, life force, possibility, strength, or love. Don’t give the scale more power than it has earned. Take note of the number, then get off the scale and live your life. You are beautiful!”
― Steve Maraboli

This quote is so beautiful I wish I could permanently keep it on my scale! Which I am sure there is ways and when I find out one I am totally going to do it.

So for those of you obsessing over your weight or find yourself frequently jumping on that scale to see if you have shed some pounds. Remember the number that shows isn't nothing compared to beauty both inside and out!

Happy Friday, I hope you all have a beautiful family filled weekend!

Loosing the baby weight!

Having two large babies and two c-sections I have been finding it quite difficult to loose the "baby weight"

During my first pregnancy I packed on the pounds very fast!! My final weight during pregnancy was 210 pounds!! you can only imagine how large my stomach looked lol!!

8 months postpartum I lost all that baby weight and actually weighed less than I did pre-pregnancy. I still had problem areas like the infamous "c-section pooch" that had not quite gone away however, for the most part I was happy with my body!

Then.... along came Cayden,

I hadn't found out I was pregnant for Cayden till I was two months along. If it wasn't for some "Googling" research I think I may have ended up on the t.v show I didn't know I was pregnant! For you other breastfeeding mothers you know that you most commonly, don't have a period (well I didn't since I was one of the lucky ones) while breastfeeding, so this came into effect when it came to not knowing I was pregnant.

Any ways I am rambling on, onto my weight gain. My final appointment with Cayden I weighed 195 pounds.. not as much as I weighed with Carson but still big lol! And in case you're wondering no I wasn't diabetic with either one!

I was trying to have a v-bac (vaginal birth after c-section) with Cayden but he was being stubborn and decided to stay breech (head up/feet down)So that idea was quickly taken from me lol!

So now, 4 months postpartum I have lost a lot of those pounds but am certainly not one of those lucky ones who pop out a baby and look picture perfect. I have found that loosing the weight after your second born is A LOT harder! :[

Just recently I have taken on oath to start eating more healthy and make it a daily routine to add some sort of workout into my lifestyle. Whether it be an actual workout routine, dancing around with Carson or adding in some quick workouts while making dinner or folding laundry (such as squats and stuff.) If you can't feel the pain when you go to bed that means you didn't work hard enough that day (lol or that's just the way I look at it, since sometimes I can slack a little)

I have taken liking to, these two workouts:
"Be a knockout with Kendra" She kind of sold me since she as well had a c-section. I find this workout both fun and a bit of challenge. To all of you who are appose to her,  I promise she isn't so bad in this DVD. Besides a couple of random booty shakes and an occasional "If I can do it, you can do it" here and there lol! I find that sort of annoying since she has always been known to be active and get into sports (I haven't lol!)

"Zumba fitness"  This one is very fun and surprisingly gives you a good sweat lol! However some of the dance moves can be a bit "exotic" and if your like me you'll be sort of embarrassed to them in front of your husband/significant other. The reviews were mixed but, my view of this workout is very high!

Here's to a healthy new life style and hopes of getting a stronger and healthier body before summer!
