Fourth Of July Shirts

I am a little late blogging about the Fourth of July. I haven't had much access to a computer since, the battery on mine is long gone! 

I love having my boys match, so for the Fourth I thought it would be fun to have them match by making them shirts on my own... What's more better than a personally made shirt?? 

I went to JoAnn Fabrics and by surprise the "Patriotic" fabrics were all 50% off so I winded up spending a whopping 2 dollars for all my fabric! Nice right! :] 

I picked up two different styled fabric choices, as well as this neat bonding fabric the lady introduced me to at the store. 

I have no Step By Step Photo's and I do apologize I waited till 1 am the day before to make this project. 

Start off by drawing a tie like shape on a piece of paper that is an appropriate size to the shirt you'll be putting it on. 

Once done place your "tie" on the fabric and lightly trace around. You Could even put the bonding fabric under the fabric to insure a precise cut on them both. 

For the other Fabric and Simply cut out strips as long as the shirt your putting it on (From shoulder to bottom) again cut out both fabric and bonding material together. 

You got all your pieces together, now all your do is place your fabric on the shirt where you want it located and iron it on. (Your bonding fabric will have play by play instructions on how to do it!) 

And the finished product :] Since having the shirts on hand this project only cost the price of the fabric. Which was 2 dollars! :] 

Re-purpose torn children's books.

Carson has had these two books since he was first born and now that their ripped, to me they hold way to much sentiment to get rid of. Pondering what I could do with them before using the throw away option I came up with a solution. 

I could also re-purpose an old coffee ground tin by, making our own "storage tin"

A day at the Beach.

With summer approaching we are very anxious to get out to the beach. Until then we figured we can improvise by bringing the beach indoors.. in a smaller version :] 

Trying to think how I can put this concept together, it finally kicked me. Brown sugar as the sand and a little bit of blue colored water for the "ocean/lake." That way if my little guy so happened to put it in his mouth it wouldn't taste yucky or be bad for him. (besides the sugary part). 

Egg Carton Snake

Crafts seem to be taking over our mornings. Once my coffee is brewed and our breakfast is devoured, we venture off into the living room and make new things.

Today we decided to make a snake, we previously made a toilet paper roll snake and that seemed to be a big hit so we wanted to bring together a newer version of   our "slithery" friend. 

This time we will be making one out of...... an egg carton.

Cotton Ball Bunny

Can you believe it's almost time for Easter already?? The saying "once you have kids life flies by" is true I guess! I feel like Santa just came a couple weeks ago.

Any way a fun craft Carson and I just recently shared together was, a cotton ball bunny! We also added Easter themed foam stickers to it... I used the stickers to help Carson learn some of his colors.  

When we have "craft time" my boys enjoy listening to Toddler Tunes on the cable box.. if you have Comcast it's channel 928. That station plays songs ranging from Barney to cute Kid songs like The wheels on the Bus.

Leprechaun Trap.

To continue on to our St.Patrick's Day Tradition we decided to make our own Leprechaun trap to try and catch the little critter. Carson had a blast helping me out with it and we are hoping to see some Leprechaun action throughout the house!!

With all the Diapers we go through we managed to save up quite a bit of boxes throughout the time. They're suppose to be for our moving adventure but using one for fun purposes won't harm any! 

Any ways we just cut all four of the corners straight down to lay the box flat. Then color away!!

Carson really enjoys adding his own little scribbles in! This is always a fun project to bring out on a rainy day or just whenever :]

A book to share

I am sure at some point in our lives, we all came across this particular book.. 

A beautiful story about a mothers love for her son. After numerous times of reading this book, I swear it still brings tears to my eyes. This is a book I love to constantly read to the boys and from time to time I will rock them on our reclining chair and sing to them the song the Mother sings her son in the book....

I'll love you forever,

I'll like you for always,

As long as I'm living

my baby you'll be.

I think no matter how old my boys get I will look at them as my little babies! 

Reading to my boys is a priority I try to squeeze into our routine each day! It brings a child's imagination to life. A world full pirates, dinosaurs and for those of you who have daughters pretty princesses. 

Reading to your child holds so many benefits. Some of them include. 

• Creating a stronger bond between you and your kids.
•  It helps your younger children learn shapes, colors, numbers and letters.
• It teaches your children about different life situations.

Something I like to do while reading to my boys is be "obnoxious" really getting into the book and exaggerating some of the voices and sounds really brings the characters to life. When the character is sad I pretend I am sad, if their happy or mad well... I pretend I happy or mad too. This teaches your children about emotions.  

Another thing I would like to share that I do is point out different things on each page. Go more into the book than just the words. Pointing out an animal and making the noise the animal makes, or even simply pointing out an object in the picture really gets Carson's attention. Sometimes I will catch him with an opened book pointing to the objects in a picture saying "look a bird, truck" whatever it is he sees he likes to point them all out lol! 

This is my boy's book collection, I just wanted to point out the wear and tear of the books from all the reading we do (plus having a toddler doesn't help the shelf life of a book lol!)

I would like to ask one simple favor, if you haven't done so already... read to your child(ren) today! 

St. Patrick's Day Craft

This is our first St. Patrick's day we're able to start a fun tradition since Carson is old enough to embrace in the fun! 


One of the recent activity's we took part in was a craft we will be sending out to the Grandparents. 


With Carson being a two year old he wasn't able to master in his rainbow painting skills so, I let him go town on finger painting. After painting four different papers my little guy was worn out lol! 
I came across the saying "you're my pot o'gold at the end of the rainbow" on Pinterest but they had it featured with colorful twizzlers and gold coins. I decided we will take that saying and incorporate it into Carson and "Cayden's" art work. 


For the bag of goodies we simply went to the dollar store bought some clover necklaces and clovers to add to another one of Carson's artworks that says "Lucky to have Grandparent's like you" the gold coins we got at local Fred Meyer on sale 10/10 (love those deals lol!!)

Trying to "catch" the Leprechaun


we will be leaving out a small laundry basket set up as a trap to catch the leprechaun, to lure the little guy we will be leaving out some sort of treasure or something green. in return the Leprechaun will not get caught but leave the boys treats and track green footprints throughout the house! (of course not real ones just construction paper cut outs of feet lol) 


For Breakfast we will start the day with Green Pancakes and all the green fixings... even color the milk green... maybe!
